Serving at some events for school is a different experience each time. Sometimes there’s more action at more than others. If you’re flustered and working a whole event alone, or the event is seriously long, it can be easy to forget why you’re serving in the first place- but there’s a purpose to what we do as raider ambassadors, or being any ambassador in general. One time, I was working the school play when I was a student ambassador at Webb Bridge. We were leading some guests in, it was Sunday I believe, so majority of people had already seen the play. It was my second time working the play that weekend, and after passing out all the play bills, I had started to get a little tired. Towards the end of the play, after running back and forth running different errands for the play, I really just wanted to go home. But later on, I went backstage to deliver some news to the student actors. They were all laughing with each other and talking about the play since it was practically branded in their brains from weeks of rehearsal. And they were just so proud of what they did, and it made me feel a little warm feeling to know that I played a role in helping the last production go through. Even if that role was as small as passing playbills, it was still nice to think I had a hand, no matter how small, in something bigger than myself. It’s something that just makes you smile.
